On the Road: New Afghan TV Show Connects People, Places and Ideas

Beginning Saturday, November 21st, a new, innovative Afghan national TV program, On the Road, will showcase the diversity of Afghanistan and the progress being made in the country’s development. Through face-to-face interviews with community leaders and people in their own local communities, the Afghan host, 22-year-old Mujeeb Arez, explores the social, cultural and historical aspects of a different region or province each week. The 26-episode series highlights Afghanistan’s pivotal role in the region as a traders’ route and examines the historical relevance of roads and development to local economic growth, education, and access to services. Tolo TV will air the 60-minute pilot episode, On the Road: Badakshan, on Saturday, November 21 at 8:00 PM (local Kabul time).
